Prof. Abdoulaye Elimane KANE
Professor Abdoulaye Elimane Kane is a Senegalese philosopher, novelist, essayist, and former minister, known as an important figure in francophone African philosophy and Senegalese political life, At UCAD he served as head of the philosophy department from 1987 to 1989, helping shape university-level philosophical teaching in Senegal
His philosophical work engages themes such as African identity, rationality, and the debate on the existence and form of African philosophy, including an article titled “Entre identité et rationalité : controverse sur l'existence d'une philosophie africaine.”
Kane served as Senegal’s Minister of Communication and Culture between 1993–1995 and again from 1995–2000, participating in cultural policy under the Socialist Party governments.
